The Challenge:
Blaze News Tonight was created as Blaze Media’s flagship news show, expanding the brand’s digital voice into a modern streaming format. Episodes aired across YouTube and BlazeTV, where design was key to build credibility and trust. The project required the development of a cohesive brand identity and physical stage that conveyed the authority of traditional broadcast within a streaming-first environment.
The Solution:
In collaboration with Alexander Somoskey, designer of the original Blaze Media identity, I crafted a dedicated brand identity and studio set environment through development of a high-fidelity 3D visualization. The process began with moodboard explorations defining tone and palette, evolving into detailed studies of layout, lighting, and materials. The finished space seamlessly integrated on-air graphics, motion design, and architectural elements, achieving a cohesive, streaming-ready presence across Blaze Media’s platforms.

3D Set Design
In the final buildout of the BNT Set, a fully realized 3D staging model was created. This not only provided a clear vision of the design but also served as a valuable guide for builders during the construction process.
Moodboards
Moodboards served as a compass for 3D modeling process, clarifying tone, materials, lighting, and overall aesthetics. I explored two primary directions, and the final set deliberately combines the strongest elements of both.
ObsidianNoir
Dark, moody, and commanding, this style emphasizes muted earth tones balanced with refined geometric forms. Natural stone textures and angular paneling create a grounded canvas that pushes content to the forefront while evoking depth and introspection.
Lighting is hidden and integrated, running along geometric lines and vertical recesses to accentuate texture and form. Dynamic lighting shifts allow the set to adapt seamlessly to show content.
Defining Characteristics
- Angular paneling accents that guide the eye
- Dark satin, gloss, and reflective materials
- Balance of geometric and natural forms
- Hidden LED accents integrated into geometry
- Contrasting light and dark earth tones
- Vertical lighting across stone or distressed concrete

RadiantFuturism
Bright, optimistic, and fast-moving, this style leans on a luminous palette of whites, soft grays, and light beiges, sharpened by occasional charcoal accents. Clean materials keep the environment airy while the dark notes preserve contrast and depth.
Geometry is assertive and rhythmic—offset planes, angular recesses, and repeating forms cut into and cantilever out from one another. Fixtures run continuously across walls and ceilings, tucking into reveals and floating above surfaces; lighting originates from those recesses with occasional floods to open key focal areas.
Defining Characteristics
- Angular, offset geometry integrated seamlessly with lighting
- Fixtures span across wall and ceiling geometry
- Repetitious geometric forms and patterns
- Offset, angular floating tables echo the overall geometry
- Geometry and lighting stretch upward in focal areas
- Complex, interlocking wall and ceiling fixtures
